Letter from Miss Yvonne
Hello Swimmers! Miss Yvonne here, believe it or not, I learned to swim at the late age of 15. Shortly thereafter my passion for swimming began, I then quickly became certified as a Water Safety Instructor (American Red Cross WSI Certified) and as a Lifeguard (American Red Cross CPR, First Aid & AED certified).
Since 2004, I have taught individuals of all ages and abilities through group & private swim lessons. My experience also spans from coaching proficient swimmers at the swim team level, as well as being a licensed educator in the State of NJ. Currently, I teach swimming as a Health & Physical Education teacher at a local middle school. As an undergraduate at Stevens Institute of Technology, I swam on the Division III NCAA Varsity Team. I also have a side passion and have experience working, as a Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor.
I love finding ways to creatively integrate my unique experiences into our swimming classes through encouraging children to love exercise by swimming! Finally, I find value by maintaining an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification.
At MYSS, our team is very excited to share our love of swimming and passion for having fun in the water in a safe instructional environment. Our camp will immerse your child in programming that will be led by educated and trained Swim Instructors. Together we can create memories and foundations that will last a lifetime becoming strong, safe, happy swimmers together!

A typical day at Miss Yvonne Swim School camp day runs from 9am – 4:00pm. We will enjoy a blend of the outdoors and indoors for the day in downtown Jersey City with a daily field trip to the Secaucus Swim Club. Campers must be dropped off at Hamilton Park (or our indoor area TBD, that will be within walking distance during inclement weather) and picked-up at 161 Fitness & Swim in Jersey City, there is no from home transportation. Each day, we take the campers through a carefully balanced schedule of our key areas: sports (Hamilton Park), a bus ride to Secaucus Swim Club for 1-hour of swim lessons (Secaucus Swim Club) follow by swimming enrichment time (pirate ship (Mon), water slide (Tue), rock wall (Wed), diving board(Th), and free choice (Fri)), a picnic lunch (Secaucus Swim Club), then a school bus ride back to Jersey City for arts & crafts/science experiments (indoor area TBD, walking distance), then another 1-hour swim lesson (161 Fitness & Swim), and snack time with pick up at 161 Fitness & Swim!
Campers need to meet by 9:00am at Hamilton Park (if inclement weather, indoor area TBD, within walking distance). There is no ‘from home bus’ service for the summer 2022 season.
Our campers are mainly from the Hudson and Bergen County areas.
We will not be offering ‘from home’ bus service this 2022 season as we will be having bus service in the middle of our morning for our daily field trip to the Secaucus Swim Club. Bus service for our daily field trip is COMPLIMENTARY.
MYSS Camp in Jersey City has been carefully chosen with inclement weather in mind. We are excited to share that pending weather will not stop our fun-filled day. If we have a rain day, we will keep all campers in the Jersey City sites and swim indoors both times in the day alongside having our indoor space (TBD, walking distance) to facilitate all our daily activities, even on a rainy day.
We provide all their swimming gear: goggles, cap, swim bubble, & swim bag (on Monday and sent home on Friday). You will need to pack 2 bathing suits, your MYSS towel (we provide on Mondays for new campers only), sunblock, an additional set of clothing for emergencies in addition to what they wear to camp in the morning, lunch, and a refillable water bottle (we provide on Monday) and 2 snacks.
Space is limited, please register early to reserve your spot!

Delivering the MYSS Camp experience requires Camp to incur numerous irreversible spending decisions many months before the summer begins. The Camp makes these irreversible spending decisions based on the number of Campers enrolled and in reliance on each Camper maintaining (i.e., not canceling) their enrollment and not leaving Camp early. Moreover, holding a space for a Camper may result in turning away other Campers throughout the year.
For these reasons, parents acknowledge and agree to the following refund policy:
A. If a cancellation occurs on or after the first day of April preceding the relevant Camp season, no refund will be given.
B. If a cancellation is received prior to the last day of March of preceding the relevant Camp season, the Camp will issue a full refund.
C. As set forth above, if the Camper is dismissed from Camp for a disciplinary reason or leaves early for any other reason (including emotional, a medical reason, etc.), no refund will be given.
